Banana Ball Brings New Energy to Knoxville |
Featuring the thrilling excitement of the Savannah Bananas and Texas Tailgaters |
Banana Ball has arrived in Knoxville, bringing with it a unique blend of baseball and entertainment that has captivated fans nationwide.
At the heart of this excitement are local brothers AJ and KC Cazana, former professional wrestlers who have transitioned into the roles of the "Beefy Boys" for the Texas Tailgaters.
These energetic performers are dedicated to amplifying the crowd's enthusiasm during games.
"Being a Beefy Boy allows me to be big, loud, and fully embrace my personality," AJ shared.
"It's a natural extension of who I am."
Their journey from the wrestling ring to the baseball field was a seamless one.
"When they were casting for the Beefy Boys, they thought, 'Who better than professional wrestlers?'" KC explained.
The brothers find that both arenas rely heavily on entertainment and audience engagement.
"In wrestling, I have to be loud and engaging. Here, I get to have fun, interact with people, and create an environment of joy and friendly competition," AJ noted.
Banana Ball, pioneered by the Savannah Bananas, combines traditional baseball with dancing, trick plays, and fan interaction, all governed by rules designed to keep the game moving swiftly.
KC likened it to "the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball," emphasizing that the competition is genuine.
"These players are here to win. It's a phenomenon that's hard to describe—you have to experience it."
The Beefy Boys engage with fans throughout the game, from tailgating outside the stadium to dancing during pregame festivities and making appearances across the venue.
"You might see us on the field, behind home plate distracting the pitcher, or even in the upper decks," KC said.
Returning to East Tennessee for games at Covenant Health Park and Neyland Stadium adds a special significance for the brothers.
"It feels incredible. I never imagined doing a non-wrestling show in Knoxville," KC expressed.
For AJ, performing at Neyland Stadium is a full-circle moment, having played football for the University of Tennessee.
"I'm thrilled to be back in front of 101,000 people and just be myself," he said.
They hope their story inspires others from small towns to pursue big dreams.
"Being from a small town doesn't mean you can't perform at Neyland Stadium. Everything in life is achievable," KC stated.
They also credit Banana Ball's "fans first" atmosphere for its rapid rise in popularity.
"You can forget your problems for a few hours. It's nonstop action and fun," AJ added.
The Savannah Bananas and Texas Tailgaters continue their East Tennessee tour with games this weekend, including a sold-out event at Neyland Stadium.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy pregame festivities and ensure a smooth entry into the stadium.
For those attending, be prepared for an unforgettable experience that blends the thrill of baseball with the energy of live entertainment.
