United Way Awards $3.9 Million to 105 East Tennessee Nonprofits |
The 2026 Community Investment Grants will support organizations working on economic mobility, early care and education, and healthier communities across five counties. |

United Way of Greater Knoxville is directing $3.91 million to 105 nonprofit organizations across Knox, Claiborne, Grainger, Jefferson and Union counties through its latest round of Community Investment Grants.
The grants provide two years of operational support for organizations working in three main areas: economic mobility, early care and education, and healthy communities. United Way says the funding is designed to help effective local programs grow, strengthen services and respond to changing community needs.
Most of this year’s funded organizations serve Knox County. United Way reports that 88 grantees serve Knox County, 13 serve Jefferson County, seven serve Grainger County, three serve Claiborne County and two serve Union County, with several organizations working across multiple counties.
The funded groups cover a wide range of needs, including housing stability, workforce development, literacy, child and family services, health programs and support for residents facing financial hardship. United Way says 110 community volunteers contributed about 1,500 hours reviewing applications before final funding decisions were made.
For local residents, the impact will show up through dozens of familiar organizations serving families, children, seniors and neighborhoods across the region.
United Way says the grants are part of a broader effort to strengthen the local nonprofit network while directing donor dollars toward programs with measurable community impact. Since 2020, the organization says it has awarded more than $61 million to local nonprofits.
The full list of funded organizations and grant amounts is available through United Way of Greater Knoxville.
