Discover the Tiny Creatures That Keep East Tennessee Blooming

Summer is one of the best times to experience East Tennessee's incredible diversity of butterflies, bees, moths, and other pollinators, and Ijams Nature Center is inviting families to get a closer look.

Through its Pollinator Palooza program, Ijams offers visitors an opportunity to explore the important role pollinators play in keeping forests, gardens, farms, and wildflower meadows healthy. The interactive program includes guided activities, nature exploration, and opportunities to observe many of the insects and plants that make East Tennessee's ecosystems flourish.

Children can learn how butterflies begin their life cycle, why native bees are essential for food production, and how even the smallest insects contribute to the health of local wildlife habitats. Along the way, participants can expect plenty of hands-on discovery designed to spark curiosity about the natural world.

The event is a great addition to a summer visit to Ijams, where families can also enjoy miles of hiking trails, shaded woodlands, the Tennessee River, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
