New Downtown Traffic Restrictions

TDOT bridge inspections are creating scheduled closures around downtown Knoxville through October 28.

Motorists should plan around the following ramp changes and check for weather-related adjustments.

Thursday October 22

The Henley Street northbound ramp to I-40 East is scheduled to close from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Drivers can use Western Avenue or Summit Hill Drive to Hall of Fame Drive to reach I-40 East.

No inspection closure is planned for Friday October 23.

Saturday and Sunday October 24–25

The I-275 southbound ramp to I-40 East is scheduled to close each day from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

TDOT advises using I-40 West to I-640 East and then returning to I-40 East.

For downtown access, the Henley Street and Western Avenue ramps from I-275 South remain alternate options.

October 26–28

On Monday and Tuesday, October 26–27, the right lane through the Henley Street northbound ramp tunnel toward I-275 and I-40 is scheduled to close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Wednesday October 28, the I-40 East Exit 388 ramp to Western Avenue is scheduled to close 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; use Exit 387 at 17th Street for Western Avenue.

Allow extra time, avoid sudden lane changes and follow current TDOT SmartWay conditions, since weather can change the inspection schedule.
