Irvey’s Ice Cream Opens First Standalone Shop in Fountain City |
The Knoxville-grown ice cream company is celebrating its new Tazewell Pike location with a three-day grand opening Oct. 9–11. |

Irvey’s Ice Cream Co. is celebrating the grand opening of its first standalone storefront at 3000 Tazewell Pike, with festivities planned from Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 11.
The Knoxville-based company is already familiar to many local customers through its location at Kerns Food Hall, along with its food trucks and ice cream van. The new shop gives Irvey’s a permanent home in Fountain City.
A new stop for a neighborhood that missed one
The opening carries a little extra significance for the area. Fountain City has been without a dedicated neighborhood ice cream destination since the loss of Fountain City Creamery, and Irvey’s has already built a following locally through its mobile operations.
The new storefront gives the company a chance to become a regular neighborhood stop rather than a pop-up or special-event treat.
Grand opening weekend
The celebration begins Friday and continues through Sunday, with family-friendly activities, giveaways and other opening-weekend extras planned.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m.
The shop is expected to feature a broad mix of ice cream options, including classic flavors, dairy-free selections, milkshakes, floats and ice cream flights.
A local business growing up
For Irvey’s, the Fountain City shop marks a step forward from mobile service into a permanent retail presence.
For the neighborhood, it adds another locally owned food business along the Tazewell Pike corridor — and gives families, students and longtime residents a new place to stop for a cone or shake.
If you’re looking for an easy weekend outing, the grand opening gives you three days to check it out.
