Early Voting Has Started

Early voting for Tennessee's November 3 election is underway, giving registered Knox County voters a chance to cast their ballots before Election Day.

The early voting period runs from October 14 through October 29 in Knox County, according to the state's published site schedule.

Voting early can help people avoid conflicts with work, family commitments or Election Day travel.

The important first step is checking the official schedule for the location and day you plan to visit.

Where Knox County Residents Can Vote

Registered Knox County voters may use any of the designated early voting locations in the county, rather than being limited to their Election Day precinct.

One convenient downtown option is the City-County Building, Small Assembly Room, 400 Main Street.

An East Knoxville option is Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Voters in northeast Knoxville can consider New Harvest Park, 4775 New Harvest Lane.

These are examples, not a complete countywide list, and voters should confirm the most convenient site before leaving home.

What Time Are the Polls Open?

Hours vary by date and, in some cases, by location.

For example, the state schedule lists the downtown City-County Building as open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, October 16, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 17.

Certain Wednesdays have extended evening hours, and Saturday schedules are not identical at every site.

Because hours can change or differ between facilities, verify your selected site's daily schedule rather than assuming all locations share one timetable.

Before You Go

Confirm that your voter registration is active and that your address information is current.

Tennessee generally requires a qualifying state or federal government-issued photo ID for in-person voting, subject to legally recognized exceptions.

The type of ID accepted, eligibility rules and absentee-ballot procedures are best checked through election officials if you have any uncertainty.

You can review a sample ballot ahead of time so you are prepared for local races and any statewide questions.

Avoid relying on social media posts for the latest polling place information.

A Reminder About Election Information

Early voting rules are administrative matters, not endorsements of any candidate or position.

The purpose of this guide is to help eligible residents find trustworthy logistics and make their own choices.

Residents of Blount, Anderson, Sevier and other surrounding counties should consult their own county's election commission, since Knox County addresses and hours do not apply to them.

Friday and Saturday both offer early-voting opportunities in Knox County.

Whether you prefer to vote early or on November 3, take a few minutes to check the official details before heading out.
