A Busy Week for Local Businesses

New storefronts, relocations and expansion plans are changing the local business landscape across Knoxville and East Tennessee.

This week’s Openings, Closings and Changes roundup looks at six developments in South Knoxville, Maryville, Oak Ridge and North Knoxville, with a seventh business move expected in the months ahead.

Some are brand-new shops, while others are familiar names taking their next step.

Old Sevier Market Adds a Neighborhood Stop

The opening of Old Sevier Market brings a new retail option to South Knoxville’s evolving Sevier Avenue corridor.

The market joins a cluster of businesses operating amid street and infrastructure work in the district.

Its arrival adds to the neighborhood’s mix of places where residents and visitors can stop, shop and spend time without leaving the area.

The wider Old Sevier story is about more than a single opening: older buildings, public improvements and new ventures are collectively reshaping the commercial strip.

Maryville Billiards Makes a Move

After approximately twelve years in downtown Maryville, Maryville Billiards is relocating to Midland Plaza.

The move also brings a restaurant component to the longtime billiards business, giving customers another reason to visit beyond pool tables and competition.

The shift is a notable change for downtown patrons who know the existing location, as well as for the plaza that will welcome the business.

Readers should confirm the transition schedule and opening arrangements before making a special trip.

Scooter’s Coffee Opens in Oak Ridge

Scooter’s Coffee opened an Oak Ridge location on October 3 at 229 South Illinois Avenue, previously occupied by Petro’s Chili & Chips.

The drive-through coffee business adds another option to one of Oak Ridge’s established commercial corridors.

Local franchise operators Greg and Stacey Gering are behind the location, which was introduced with a ribbon-cutting event.

For shoppers and commuters, the practical change is a new coffee stop in a familiar building.

More Room for Mia Piccola

Mia Piccola is expanding its North Broadway coffee shop into neighboring space.

The plans call for additional seating and, eventually, a takeaway food menu.

The move illustrates how an existing independent business can grow without leaving the surrounding neighborhood.

An expanded footprint can change how customers use a café, turning a short coffee stop into a place to meet, work or linger.

A completion date for all planned additions has not been confirmed.

Bliss Expands as KnoxFill Relocates

In South Knoxville, two local business changes are connected by a former storefront.

Bliss Integrated Wellness now operates at 3211 South Haven Road, expanding its presence with services including therapeutic bodywork.

That space formerly housed KnoxFill, which relocated to 6204 Chapman Highway.

Rather than a vacant space remaining unused, one business’s move created room for another operation.

It is a small example of the ongoing reshuffling of neighborhood retail and service locations.

Looking Ahead: Tides Enterprises in Maryville

Industrial supplier Tides Enterprises has announced plans for a Tennessee operation at 3806 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville.

The business plans to begin moving in on November 1 and has indicated a goal of being fully operational by January 1, 2027.

That makes it an upcoming business opening, not an operation already serving customers or employing workers at full capacity.

Future announcements should clarify the practical impact on the local industrial workforce and surrounding businesses.

What These Changes Mean

Business activity is not limited to one corner of the 865.

South Knoxville is adding retail and wellness uses, Maryville is seeing established businesses change locations and industrial companies plan future facilities, and Oak Ridge has a new coffee shop.

Not every move represents a new employer or an increase in total local businesses, but each changes the choices available to nearby residents.

Watch for confirmed opening dates, new services and additional neighborhood announcements as these projects develop.
