From Gatlinburg's famous midnight parade to Knoxville's Festival on the 4th, communities across East Tennessee are celebrating America's birthday with parades, concerts, family activities, and fireworks.

🇺🇸 Gatlinburg – Midnight Parade (12:01 a.m.)
The celebration begins before most people have gone to bed. Gatlinburg's nationally recognized First Independence Day Parade in the Nation steps off at 12:01 a.m. on July 4, drawing thousands of spectators to downtown. The parade has become one of the Smokies' most recognizable holiday traditions and officially kicks off Independence Day in East Tennessee.

🇺🇸 Farragut – Independence Day Parade (9:30 a.m.)
One of Knox County's favorite Fourth of July traditions returns as the Farragut Independence Day Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. along Kingston Pike. The parade features decorated floats, marching bands, veterans, community organizations, and local businesses, offering a family-friendly way to celebrate before heading to afternoon and evening festivities across the region.

🎆 Knoxville – Festival on the 4th
Knoxville's signature celebration returns to World's Fair Park with free family activities, food vendors, live entertainment, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's annual Independence Day concert at 8 p.m., and one of the region's largest fireworks displays from Henley Bridge around 9:45 p.m.

🎸 Lenoir City – Rockin' the Docks
Now in its 26th year, Rockin' the Docks returns to Lenoir City Park on the shores of Fort Loudoun Lake. The free festival begins at 4 p.m. with food vendors and family activities before live music starts at 6:30 p.m. This year's lineup features The Deep Lakes, followed by Mike McGill & The Refills, with a fireworks spectacular lighting up the lake at approximately 9:45 p.m. One of Loudon County's largest annual events, Rockin' the Docks has become a summertime tradition for families throughout the region.

🎤 Pigeon Forge – Patriot Festival
Patriot Park hosts an afternoon and evening of free entertainment, culminating with a headline performance by Carly Pearce and a fireworks finale. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early as this is one of Sevier County's largest Independence Day celebrations.

🎇 Oak Ridge – Independence Day Celebration
Oak Ridge's annual celebration returns to A.K. Bissell Park with live music, food vendors, children's activities, and fireworks after dark.

🚗 Rocky Top – Thunder on the Mountain
The city hosts a full day of festivities including a classic car show, kids' parade, live entertainment, food vendors, and an evening fireworks display.

🎆 Townsend – Fireworks in the Peaceful Side of the Smokies
For those looking for a quieter celebration, Townsend's community fireworks near Highland Manor Inn offer a relaxed alternative to larger crowds while still providing spectacular views against the mountain backdrop.

🎉 Knoxville – 250th Anniversary Celebration at the Cove (July 11)

The Independence Day festivities continue the following weekend with Knoxville's 250th Anniversary Celebration at The Cove at Concord Park. The free, family-friendly event features a community village, children's activities, patriotic bike parade, historical exhibits, live entertainment, a lakeside concert featuring Carson Beyer, and a fireworks finale over Fort Loudoun Lake. The celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers a unique opportunity to commemorate America's 250th anniversary while showcasing Knoxville's rich history and community spirit.

Whether you're an early riser for Gatlinburg's 12:01 a.m. parade, spending the day by the lake in Lenoir City, ending the night with fireworks over downtown Knoxville, or saving room for the July 11 celebration at The Cove, East Tennessee offers no shortage of ways to mark the holiday season. Plan to arrive early, expect heavier-than-normal traffic, and enjoy one of the region's favorite summer traditions.
